Psychedelic Shoe Store

It just doesn’t cease to amaze us the concepts and designs that our Asian friends keep coming up with! Have a look at this very trendy and awesomely-designed shoe store in Hong Kong. The company behind the design, Wonderwall, says they based the design on “orderly-chaos”, trying to emphasise each brand with vivid coloured neon lights. We like!

Pod Living – not by Apple!

Have a look at this new concept – called “Pod” living – from JadeNYC. Their uniqueness comes from combining the kitchen, bathroom and closet into a central pod-like cube. The designs are very, very stylish and people who already own these pods, will definitely be able to show off their trendiness to friends.

JadeNYC is currently located in Chelsea, UK. But if this concept works as great as it looks, you can soon expect it to be all over.

Angelina goes Vector

Angeline Jolie Vector Art

This is indeed vector art created in Adobe Illustrator – we promise! The above picture of actress, Angelina Jolie, was created by Canadian artist, Wayne Forrest. View the unrendered version of this picture here.

It’s really amazing how close these vector images come to the real thing. With a quick glance, you’d have to have a really well-trained eye to spot the differences.

Coffee Table or PC?

Coffee Table PC by Stephen JohnsonHave a look at this modified PC (or coffee table??) built by super-geek (the PC is water-cooled) Stephen Johnson.

The PC boasts a 160 GB HDD, TV Tuner and Wi-Fi to stream any videos directly to your TV. The quite sizeable HDD also offers you the capability of recording your favourite shows directly to the PC.

Overall the design is quite trendy and the blue light makes the whole idea of a coffee table with a built-in PC seem like a good one. Indeed very stylish and definitely a must-have for computer geeks…

Bayside is a Cult.

Bayside Rocks

Bayside is another emo / rock / punk bands from the Victory Records stable and Victory are mostly dead-on when they sign a new band – although Bayside have been around since 2000. In 2003 they released their debut album, entitled “Sirens & Condolences” on Victory.

Their next two releases, an full-length entitled “Bayside” in 2005 and a Acoustic Live CD / DVD this year, have propelled the band to amazing success.

Personally, Bayside reminds us a little bit of a younger Alkaline Trio, with especially lead-vocalist Anthony Raneri, reminiscent of Matt Skiba in a way. Bayside makes some awesome music – not too heavy / alternative for the pop kiddies – but it is their good mix between singing and screaming vocals that stand out.

Having only recently discovered a band that’s been around the block, we feel a little stupid, but Bayside are worth all the hype right now. They’re touring all over the US & UK with more well-known bands such as Vendetta Red & Silverstein.

We must also mention that their website is very well-designed as well, with some clever use of Flash graphics. Certainly one of the better band homepages out there!

Check them out. And remember Bayside is a cult.

Just a little naughty…

For this ad campaign for Rush Ultimate Chocolate (looks like some kind of milkshake drink), the creators used an all-star cast consisting of Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Cinderella. Very well executed indeed and we dig it!

An Angry Brown Boy?

AngryBrownBoy.comThis is just weird. But the author of the website angrybrownboy.com has a tagline that reads: “he’s angry. he’s brown. he’s the angrybrownboy.com™”

Mmm…Wack stuff indeed.

But his artworks on his MySpace page are really, really good and very unique, although the wack factor does come up. In the end being weird and different and arty, definitely makes you cool in our opinion. Enjoy more of his art on his website.

Victoria Secret Models hearts Apple

Victoria Secret Models hearts Apple

Apparently not all models are stupid and computer-illiterate (jokes)…Here’s uber-models, Alessandra Ambrosio & Gisele Bundchen, backstage at a Victoria Secret’s event, just toying away on our favourite Apple iBooks.

We can thus conclude that owning either a supermodel or any Apple product is indeed stylish and will make you part of The Cool Crowd.

Here are some pics to celebrate “style”:

Wordpress Statistics as they celebrate first 8 months

Wordpress has been around for just 8 months and already they have established themselves as one of many bloggers’ preferred choice of blog hosts. At this point we must also indicate, that The Cool Crowd is also indeed powered by Wordpress, although not hosted by them.

WP currently hosts in excess of 300 000 blogs, which in turn generates traffic from about 14.2 million unique visitors a month. These stats are indeed pretty impressive, although they might not compare with more popular blog hosts just as Typepad, Blogger or Blogspot.

With a lot of support from various internet developers, Wordpress is surely on the rise and gives even the most amateur bloggers a very user-friendly and efficient blogging experience.

Hope WP continues to grow, after they’ve also just announced that they’ve turned profitable through their premium services on offer. Great stuff.

Sit Different Chair for MacBooks

Sit Different ChairHave a look at this new chair – the Sit Different Chair – designed by Syntes Design from Stockholm, Sweden.

The chair comes complete with the swivel tray to position your laptop on and also carries the Apple logo, which makes it an official iProduct.

The transluscent-white still gets us off and the chair carries the same appeal as other Apple products. Design and style is key in the modern world – even if effectivity and functionality isn’t what it used to be. And you can’t fault Apple (or anyone latching onto their style & design philosophy), because they are successfull! And we, along with the people, love it!
