So we’re off…

Okay, so it’s been only 6 months since we launched so we don’t necessarily deserve an end-of-year break, but we’re taking one anyway. We’ll be taking a much-needed break from the rat race and spend some time drinking cocktails and sun-bathing on the beach.

So we’ll be back in the first week of 2007. Enjoy the holidays and we’ll bring the coolness back in 2007.

Cheerio!

Meg and Dia performing live and acoustic

This is a very good video of Meg and Dia performing their single, “Setting up Sunday”, acoustic and live at Weber FM (at Weber State University, Utah). In this video, the Frampton sisters really showcases their talents and in our opinion, it takes some doing to perform as flawlessly live like this!

The second vid is also for “Setting up Sunday”, but is a lot more informal. Dia actually has what seems like, a glass of white wine in her hand (EDIT: After having a more in-zoom look, I see it’s only a bottle of wine. Would’ve been cool the glass of wine though…). Still very good and you can see that these two are pure class!

So yes, I’m still listening to Meg and Dia a lot, because it’s fun and it’s easy to listen to. That does not however mean that I’ve turned gay, just that M&D is my official soundtrack for the process of compiling my favourite albums for 2007.

Junk Robots

Junk Robots

These robots are made by Gordon Bennett over at Bennet Robot Works and are made out of junk parts combined with one or two new components. The robots are pure ornaments and don’t have any moving or electrical parts.

So although the price tag is quite hefty (from $850 to $3000), this is a pretty nice (but utterly useless) toy to have sitting around your study. So yes, it’s definitely geeky. And sometimes geeky is cool.

Check out the whole available range here.

Royal Landy!

Royal Landy - Land Rover Ad

So you might not know this broad, but this is Miss Zara Philips, cousin to Harry and a British royal (we prefer calling them blue-bloods or something else derogatory, but that would spoil the “grandness” of this post). And this advertisement by Land Rover makes her the first British royal to officially star in an advert.

Pretty cool ad though, with the copy of “Beautifully Poised” being very relevant. The ad also shows Land Rover’s continuous support of equastrian events, since Miss Philips is also the current World Equastrian Champion.

I just don’t hope anyone decides to put Charles’ old fart face on a billboard anytime soon (read: EVER!)…

Fresh herbs on electricty

Electrolux Hydrosphere

This is a new invention by Electrolux, called the Hydrosphere, that was created by designer Kleber Puchaski, of the Royal College of Art in the UK, for the lectrolux Design Lab 2006 contest.

So it looks like a portable little greenhouse, right? And the design is pretty awesome!? But what does it do? The device in the middle of the “pods” is basicly a growing lamp that enhances effective growth for fresh herbs and small fruits. So you basicly plant whatever herbs you want and they grow quick and easy - as simple as that.

Quite a cool concept and a great idea for having healthier food - AND easy access to it. No more dried herbs! As a amateur / experimental cook myself, I must say that I’d love this little gadget, since cooking with fresh ingredients is just so much cooler!

I also however wonder how many little gangster kiddies will try and grow some marijuana in this thing…This could be the next gadget trend after those virtual pets ages…
