Slow Music

So this has been a slow day and we’ve decided to share a bit more about our musical tastes and preferences going at the moment. And we promise we haven’t been listening to any special Xmas albums…

We’ve been listening to (+44) Plus Forty Four quite a bit, since they launced their album late 2006 and we must say, although it compares to Blink 182, it’s actually a bit of a breath of fresh air. Seems that the nice emo rhymes are actually well-thought of and the song structures are pretty good. I especially like the the tempo and style changes within individual songs. Mark and Travis (ex-Blink) has definitely progressed since Blink broke up and in my opinion (+44) trumps other ex-Blink member, Tom deLonge, new project, Angels and Airwaves. Although it’s different bands and different styles, (+44) goes with hand-in-hand with blogging everytime.

For our more chilled out vibes, we’ve been listening to The Postal Service’s 2003 offering “Give Up”. The electronic indie pop sounds generated by this pair is just so soothing to the ears. The album might be old, but it’s probably one of the best albums within its genre. Vocalist Ben Gibbard, from Death Cab for Cutie fame, just continues to remind that he is a brilliant musician and we sure hope that The Postal Service will produce another album quite soon, since 2003 is a very long time ago…

Other notable entries on our current playlist:
The Distillers - Coral Fang
Zella Mayzell - The Murder, Porn, And Fatherhood
Lark - Mouth of me
Snow Patrol - Final Straw

Sex vs Gadgets

So apparently the war between robot intelligence and pure natural lust has begun… (Very dramatic first sentence, we know!)

The thing is a recent survey in the UK, with approx 60 000 male participants, shows that 1 guy in every 8 will be willing to swap his dream girl for the latest gadget he’s lusting after instead. The desired gadgets included HDTV and an iPod (yes, a freaking iPod - can’t see me swapping some hot loving for only an iPod, I mean it’s not THAT expensive).

The biggest culprits are the 16 to 24 year old bracket (17 percent of them would gadget-swap), whilst the grandparents are more interest in the silver wedding anniversary.

Also of note is that fact that one out of every 16 women would also rather go for the gadget than a bit of man-love. Quite interesting this, since the female race is not considered to be so heavy on their tech, but this looks like an interesting trend, where women will get into gadgets more and more.

Geeks are weird, okay!?

The Guerilla called Axe

I just found these two pics from Axe’s new guerilla marketing campaign online and I like the idea a lot. The concepts are in the exact same vein as all their previous efforts, where a lot of girls lust after single men, but these just seem so much better. It’s just really cool the way they are essentially actually tagging onto existing objects to bring their message across. So in that sense, it is a lot like a graffiti artist, but just better and probably more legal.

Something extra in your coffee

methcoffee.jpgAn extremely mysterious (and slightly strange) San Francisco company has launched a new product simply called “Meth Coffee”. You obviously noted the word “meth” in the title and that does grab the attention, but apparently the coffee consists only of normal arabica coffee beans and another ingredient called yerba mate.

Yerba mate comes from South America and basicly boosts your energy levels a bit. So that combined with the caffeine in the coffee apparently has quite a uplifting effect.

“If you’re just trying it for the first time, don’t throw back five cups like regular coffee. Ease into it. Have a little. Feel the rush, the euphoria, the smooth-edged high. Then go for more, if you want,” the company said on its Web site.

The product only went on sale last Wednesday and is still only available through their website.

Apparently smart, as well as very pretty

We feel like celebrating something pretty today and we found Emily Scott, Australian model, online. At 22 however, she’s already a trained Olympic Gymnast and she’s also acquired a degree in product design. So except for being pretty and obviously financially well-off (she’s been featured in Maxim, Playboy, FHM etc.), she’s also seems to be quite smart.

She’s also just signed a very lucrative contact to be the face of BabeLife, so I assume we’ll be seeing more this lovely dame soon.
