Church of the future

futuristic_church.jpg

Above is a photo from the new Harajuku Protestant Church in Tokyo, Japan. I must say that this design differs a lot from your standard church designs, but we can trust the Japanese to come up with these innovative concepts first every time.

Quoting their website: “The ceiling is specially made to reverberate natural sound for 2 seconds to provide a unique listening experience for worshipers and tourists.” Sounds pretty cool and slightly high tech… I just wonder how the Pope would feel about this modernization of religion - I can’t see how he would be too keen on this concept… But anyway, the Japanese went down this road first and we anticipate a whole host of churches across the world to follow suit. We can’t see anything wrong with having a beautiful and stylish church building - certainly this does not interfere with any religious experience, in fact, we believe it could only enhance it. If a person finds his environment pleasing, he’ll obviously be more comfortable there and this can only enhance any spiritual experience. Well done to the Japs!

Waterworld in the 20th Century

Atkins Architecture Group recently won first prize in an internation design competition for their spectular entry based on a new-age waterworld for the super-rich. This 400 bed resort hotel is situated in a water-filled quarry in Songjiang, China and is constructed in such a way as to not impose on the natural elements of the quarry. The hotel boasts underwater guest areas, as well as various different sporting facilities, restuarants and cafes.

The lower levels boasts an aquatic theme and features a swimming pool and an extreme sports center, for the adrenaline junkies, which includes rock climbing and bungee jumping. This resort hotel is not only absolutely beautiful, it’s got the facilities to make this a true 5-star experience too.

Designer Washing

wash.jpgThis new utterly stylish and exotic design by Andre Kim for a Samsung washing machine, just blows our mind! Although probably a very audacious item to have as part of your home, the design and whole feel is just so different from your normal plain white or “stylish-cool” silver designs. The design also hides the brute machine feel of this item and we’re wondering whether it’s more of a joy to get your laundry done in this washing machine compared to a very standard Defy or LG model.

Also very interesting, is that after Micheal Jackson saw Kim’s designs, he offered Kim the job to be his own personal designer, but Kim apparently declined stating that his designs are not exclusive and is to be shared with everyone, Considering who your employer would’ve been Andre Kim, you definitely did not make a bad choice, in fact I think it’s just purely creepy working for MJ. Although, you could probably steal a kiddies treat (which MJ keeps a bucketload of for the kids) here and there if you are into candy.

Eat all the dots you can……….

We found these nice little photos online, showcasing a bathroom, completely based on legendary arcade game, Pac-Man. The design is very clean and we quite like - not that we would design our bathroom like that. But maybe for like a bathroom in the arcade - that would be very appropriate and clever and innovative (read: wondering whether these photos are from an arcade’s bathroom…).

And in other totally unrelated news - Hilary Clinton yesterday announced that she too was running to be elected the new president of the awesome USA in 2008. Yes, Hilary Clinton is indeed the wife of the two-timing Bill Clinton, ex-president that had oral relations with Monica Whatisherface. This is awesome news to the world. Oh, and apparently she’s in the presidential race to win, according to an e-mail she sent out to her supporters - heck, I’d hope that every presidential candidate is in it to win…

Weird, but well-drawn cartoons

Found this very interesting cartoon artist online. The site is called Nozzman and features a lot of cartoons and illustrations like the one of Adolf / Idol above.

Some of the cartoons are extremely weird and some of them border on being twisted, but they are funny and it is a good laugh at all times. The illustration is also good. So visit the site and have a look around.
